You want the DIGITAL IMAGES only or maybe a few prints? You can go down to Target, Walmart... and make your own prints a lot cheaper, right? It's the same thing as the expensive ones the photographer offers. Why not just pay a photographer a little for a photoshoot and then make your own prints? I get it! I'm going to explain why. You'll need to think about WHAT YOU VALUE and WHAT YOU WANT FROM YOUR PHOTO SESSION so you can make the best choices.
Please consider your photoshoot and the professional prints as an investment. They are art created for you and your family. I use professional printing services that offer treatments that protect your family art for decades to come. You can choose matte, lustre or glossy. A variety of papers are also available.
Using a professional printing service has several advantages. Professional printers offer high quality prints and services not usually available at retail stores and on-demand printing kiosks. In fact, if you get prints at say Target, WalMart, Costco, CVS, Walgreens etc… you will get a different looking print from each one. They will not look like the image your photographer worked hard to capture and edit for perfection. BLOG POST showing the differences will be posted in the near future. Colors won’t be the same and the prints won’t last when exposed to the light. If you choose not to purchase high quality prints from me (professional photo lab) I suggest you find a local photo lab such as Precision Camera in Austin, TX. It will cost a bit more than the aforementioned stores, but it so worth it.
Fuji Crystal Archive Professional Super Type PD Luster
Vivid color reproduction, brilliant whites, with a semi-gloss luster finish; this paper offers a sharper, crisper image. #1 recommended for any type of photography.
Fuji Crystal Archive Pearl Paper
High quality gloss finish with a distinctive pearl-like appearance. Ideal for professional applications such as commercial, fashion and portrait photography.
Fuji Crystal Archive Professional Deep Matte Paper
True non-reflective matte with warm whites and a super smooth finish. It’s unique lusterless surface provides elegant color reproduction with subtlety and warmth. Great for skin tones, soft images, and black and whites. *Not typically recommend for images with dense shadow detail and ultra rich blacks.
Kodak Endura Metallic Paper
High gloss finish and metallic appearance creates exceptionally unique depth, rich vibrant colors and flattering flesh tones. Idea for commercial, fashion and portrait photography.
The canvas has superior color rendition, rich blacks and a smooth gloss finish. They are printed on high quality white poly-cotton canvas to ensure that the saturation and sharpness is positively awe-inspiring. All of our canvas is printed and stretched at the lab for impeccable quality assurance.
The lab I use is proud to share that our canvas manufacturer partners with American Forests to help rebuild forests. They do this by planting a tree for every roll of canvas material used.
Metal Prints are waterproof, UV resistant, and made from 100% recyclable aluminum. Images are transferred using dye sublimation processing which makes your image a permanent part of the aluminum sheet to create an extremely durable product. Available in two finishes, various sizes and display options. Metal Prints are a very impressive option!
Give your images a warm, natural feel these beautiful Wood Prints. The grain of the wood shows through the lighter areas of your photographs giving them a unique look. Wood prints come with precut keyholes in the back and are easy to hang. Available in various sizes from 8”x 8” to 20”x 30”.
This is the same quality canvas printing as our gallery wraps, only this canvas product is wrapped around a lightweight gatorfoam board. Canvas floats are finished with black paper backing and a foam floater block with pre-drilled holes for hanging.

Back February 7th I wrote about my Leap of Faith. I told you that I took a Leap of Faith and promised some details.
So this is what happened in the past TWELVE months. After years of working with the elderly and especially dementia, I had a revelation one night. Yep, this all came to me in one night-granted it took years to reach that night, but still.
Every day I sat and listened to patients and families and did my best to offer what I could as they suffered with dementia. Dementia is a neuro-degenerative disease that has no cure and no real way of even making it better. Behavioral changes with paranoia and agitation occur along with memory problems. In any event, families and patients would open their hearts and tell me what was going on even when sometimes all I had to offer was kindness. I'll have many more posts of the interview/pictures with these lovely families.
What they gave me was far more than I had to offer them in return. They shared such beautiful stories of love. They demonstrated love even while in the midst of such difficulty.
February 17, 2015 I came home and the idea that someone needs to tell these stories-these love stories. My husband suggested that I be their voice. I should write the stories. I had the idea to write a book, and had even attended several workshops, but just didn't have clarity until then. My personality is to over do it in a Clark Griswold kind of way so writing a book just isn't adequate if I can add some pictures too! I loved photography but had never taken classes or anything. So, I attended a workshop in March 2015 (shout out to Precision Camera University), invested in some gear and by July started doing some practice shots. That's right- JULY 2015.
Fast forward- I have a photo studio in my home that used to be our converted garage and I've progressed to the point that I left my full time job in January. I am pursuing my dream. I've started the book with words AND pictures and expect it to be published by October 2016. Wow! I've met some wonderful people who helped propel my new career, discovered that I had some real talent and am now taking good care of myself. I'll describe this is more detail in future blog posts. Much thanks to my husband for having faith in me and supporting me. His love and support give me strength.
Please leave me a Comment!
I LOVE my flower wall. I get a lot of questions about how it came about. Check out the video.
#1- I had a vision. I'm a fashion magazine addict and must've seen many different versions of a flower wall. I can honestly say I don't remember the initial inspiration.
#2- I pondered- how the heck would I do this? What colors- muted or go bright? I had some ideas
#3- I put a plan together and got my husband to help me. He had great ideas and even put small wheels on it so I could move it about my little studio.
#4- We went to a home store and bought a lattice. It needed a little trimming down and then it was time for the fun part: the flowers!
#5- Then I raided the local Dollar Stores and the like for carts of flowers.
#6- I spent HOURS attaching each one. I've got 5'X7' super duper cool flower wall.
I love cruising around looking for cool stuff. Even better when I find things on sale! Here are a few additions to the studio FUN FUN! I've already used them. Here's a few examples with my friend and 'model' for the day Jodi. You can check out Jodi's Facebook page for Radiant One Consulting Business Services at https://www.facebook.com/R1.jmk/timeline
More beautiful Jodi coming later in the week...

Birthdays are a great time to reflect on life- are you living the life you expected to, the one you WANT to? Are you with people who you share love and respect and who help you grow toward your best? Are you living a life of gratitude knowing that life really is as fragile as dew on the tip of a leaf.
Some of you know that I've come close to losing my wonderful son numerous times. I raised him on my own most of his life and our bond was tight. Even so, he felt the need to join the Army shortly after HS graduation. That was a decision that broke my heart. I know, I know- people told me I should be proud, but I was mostly sad, lonely and scared. The most important person in my world; the one I promised to take care of before he was born volunteered to risk his young life. Sometimes I worried but mostly we had a connection that kept me tapped into how he was. Had he not been troubled and scared so much himself, it would've been easy but since being in war and seeing your friends die and all the other terrible things- well emotions can get to be a mess. I sent him prayers and love and protection which was all I could do. I otherwise had NO power. Alert: Worrying never helped anything.
He was in Iraq and hurt badly in 2007, but he is nearby now, married and happy. He still struggles, as one might imagine. I thank God everyday that he was spared and that he is nearby and happy. He married a beautiful woman who loves him very much and even inherited her wonderful family. There is much to celebrate each day and especially on his birthday. Happy Birthday my sweet Nick. I'll call and sing to you at 1:10pm as I have every year except when you were in basic training and war.
Who is that chubby older lady with the dark circles around her eyes and the silver roots in her hair? I had become unrecognizable to myself. Over the last 2-3 years, I gained weight, was beyond tired, and had little to no motivation to do more than work. Up at 430am and home after 6pm only to finish my paperwork, go to bed and do it again. Of course I had no energy. There was just nothing left and then... I had a vision. It wasn't just that fat old vision either.
I knew how I wanted to live my life and I was far from that. One day I was just hit with a clear plan of what I needed to do and why. In truth, the destination was more clear than the plan. It wasn't the fault of anyone or any job and it wasn't a wrong career choice all these years. It just wasn't right for me any more. I devoted years to a career- a calling- really. I loved it but after so many years (40!) it was just wasn't enough. It hasn't been enough for many years because I missed being creative. Somewhere along the way I sold out important aspects of my personality in order to make a living and it just wasn't working. I wasn't honest enough with myself when I looked in the mirror everyday the way Steve Jobs describes. I lied to myself, but not anymore.
How did I get so far away from myself? Why did I get so far away? Why do any of us? It's simple and beautiful. And, you'll need to wait for another post to learn these answers.
I will periodically post some personal slideshows. Why? Women come to me and share their stories and have fun while being incredibly vulnerable. So why not share a little bit about me and the beautiful places and people around me? This is a start.
My husband and I went for a long week-end to Gruene, TX to celebrate our birthdays in January. Gruene has such an interesting history.
We stayed at Gruene Mansion Inn in the River Tree Lodge with a spectacular view of the Guadalupe River. Relaxing and peaceful are two words that come to mind.
We meandered around historic Gruene and also the Guadalupe River area of Gruene and New Braunfels, TX. Those slide shows will be coming along soon.
Thank you to my beautiful muses. Most of my shoots over the past 6 months are represented. There are a few missing but they're on the pages of this website. 2015 was wonderful and has left me full of excitement for 2016!
I am intrigued by stairs. It's the mystery, I think. They go up or down and there is always the wonder about what or who might be at the end. That's how I feel about my business and this blog. Wonderful things have happened in such a short time that I had to literally stop and write down the sequences. I've met some angels on earth who helped me get to where I wanted to be-in BIG ways. There will be more about this in my blog bug suffice to say I believe in miracles. I believe in following dreams. When I was ready, the opportunities showed up.
This blog will have bits of my story as well as bits about the incredible people I get to know and photograph. I always have a project going, and I'll write about that also.
This is such an incredible time of my life that it'll be a challenge to write about it in an orderly way. I'm sharing it because I want anyone with a dream to not give up and to go for it...as soon as you know FOR SURE that you really want it.Read More
